New database: Archives Unbound (GALE)

The UvA library recently got a subscription to the Gale Literary databases. Part of it is the "Archives Unbound" database. Within this primairy resource you will find historical documents, from newspaper articles to monographs and manuscrips. The topics vary form the Middle Ages, witchcraft to colonial history, holocaust and twentieth-century political history. The emphases is on U.S. foreign policy; U.S. civil rights; global affairs; colonial studies and modern history.

Collections are chosen based on requests from scholars, archivists, and students. How they gained the information from these groups is not explained.

Searching & downloading
If you want to take a look at the archives, then browse through the 319 collections 
There is also a basic and an advanced search option.
It is possible to cite, email, download or link to a document.
