ORCID ID researcher prevents mistaken identity

As a researcher, it is important that your name and research can be found on the internet. It could lead to difficulties though when your name is displayed in different ways, other researchers have a similar name or if you have aliases. For instance, my name can be found online as:

  • Brink, van den W.
  • Van den Brink, W.
  • W. van den Brink
  • Wilma van den Brink

With ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor iD) you will be given a persistent digital identifier. A system similar to for instance a DOI (= digital object identifier) for articles or eBooks. With the ORCID iD's unique code, your research output will always be clearly attributed to you which is useful for potential collaboration, funders, future employers, publishers, conference organizers etc.

ORCID profile and PURE
An ORCID profile can list the institution's in which you have worked, the funding you received, the publications you have authored and the details of any peer reviews you have provided. It is possible to connect your page to PURE so information will be directly synchronized.

Join the ORCID UvA lottery
As a UvA researcher on ORCID, you can even win a tabled, headphone or professional portrait photograph by Monique Kooijmans. So join the competition online.
