Historical database collections at Dutch Universities

Especially during thesis time, I receive requests from students who need access to a specific database not available in our collection. Regarding newspaper archives, I often refer to the Royal Dutch Library, where students can access an extensive collection for only 8 euros a year. But when it concerns a database with other primary resources, I check the database collections of the Dutch university libraries with a history collection. 

As a UvA student you can become a free member of every university library in the Netherlands. Each library has a PC on location that will provide access to the collection of available databases. Do not forget to take your ID and student card with you on your first visit to receive a free library card.

• Leiden University
• Radboud University (all disciplines)
• Royal Library Netherlands
• Tilburg University (search on history)
• University of Groningen (choose: Humanities)
• University of Amsterdam (select: American Studies or History or Middle Ages)
• Utrecht University
• VU University
